The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) has denied any fire incident in the hospital saying the attention of the Management has been drawn to a trending story about the alleged razing by fire, the store of the Pharmacy Department of the hospital precisely the mini store of the pharmacy.
In a statement by head of corporate Affairs unit of the teaching hospital, Mr E.O Ajiboye said the story was not only imbalanced and hyped but a calculated attempt by some publishing organisations to portray the hospital as an unsafe environment for her patients and their relatives across the nation.
“We state categorically there was a mild fire incident in an office that serve as Pharmacy annex in the building seven of the hospital”.
“We wish to emphatically state that what happened on the day aforementioned was a spark in the office that serve as Pharmacy annex of which the mini store attached was not affected”.
The fire which was as a result of the overheated air conditioner , the fire fighter unit of the hospital on duty were able to put off the fire before the arrival of the Kwara State fire fighter.

While we appreciate the duties of Journalists in the society, we equally demand that ethical conduct required for balancing of stories before publication on health institutions should be upheld.
We want to state that this mild incident has not affected the Pharmacy Department in rendering thier services to our patients.
