ENVIRONMENTAL CONFLICT MEDIATION AND WOMEN DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH WOMEN ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAM HOLDS A- ONE DAY SEMINAR ON JUNE 5TH, 2024.
A – one day workshop organised by the Environmental Conflict Mediation and Women Development Initiative in partnership with Women Environmental Programme with support from Women Engage for a common future will start on Wed the 5th of June, 2024 .
The purpose of the one day workshop is to create awareness on the benefits of organic agriculture production and consumption, while the objectives is to create market for the organic products in Oyo State as well as to inspire sustainable agricultural practices.
According to the Executive Director, Environmental Conflict Mediation and Women Development Initiative, Mrs Ijeoma Ladele said the the topic of the program is titled “AWARENESS ON THE BENEFITS OF ORGANIC AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION AND COMSUMPTIONS IN OYO STATE” saying the outcome of programme is to reduce degradation of vegetation.
The venue of the one day seminar is the
Training centre, INCITIS -Food Living Lab, Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Management , University of Ibadan.
Target audience include Men and Women Organic farmers, producers and consumers, youth /young farmers University Health Service,JAJA, Ministry of Environment
, Ministry of Agriculture, Civil Society Organisations, Climate Change advocate, Environmental and Economic experts, Media
Mrs Ladele said about 100 participants comprising 40 men, 40 women, 10 young women, 10 young men will participate in the one day workshop.
She said the overall goal is the Forest for a Just Future programme of Green Livelihood Alliance (GLA) aims to ensure that topical forests and forest landscapes are sustainably and inclusively governed to mitigate and adapt to climate change, fulfil human rights and safeguard local livelihoods in Nigeria and Internationally.
The event will also mark the World Environment Day with theme ” Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience”. It will feature,
advocacy to Director University Health Services, University of Ibadan.
Advocacy to Hon. Commissioner of environment and Water Resources,
Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development Oyo State, visit to the INCITIS-Lab.
A radio programme at Diamond FM, University of Ibadan is expected to take place on the 3rd of June, 2024.
