The University of Ilorin Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Professor Lanre Yusuf Badmos, a renowned academic and esteemed member of the University of Ilorin community. The Union described his demise as a great loss to the institution and the academic community at large.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the UNILORIN Chapel of NUJ, Mr. Tijani Adekola Adewoyin, and made available to newsmen on Sunday, 1st February 2026, the Union extended its heartfelt condolences to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the entire university community, the Ilorin Emirate, the Muslim Ummah, as well as the family, friends, and associates of the late Professor Badmos.
The statement noted that Professor Badmos was a highly respected scholar whose immense contributions greatly enhanced the academic excellence and reputation of the University of Ilorin. His dedication to scholarship and service will be fondly remembered.
The NUJ Chapel prayed that Allah (SWT) grants the departed soul Al-Jannah and bestows patience, strength, and comfort upon his loved ones during this difficult period.
The Union also prayed that his enduring legacy continues to inspire excellence and commitment in academic and professional pursuits, Amin.
