BROADCAST JOURNALIST HIGHLIGHTS ROLE OF EMERGING MEDIA VOICES IN SHAPING A NEW ERA OF JOURNALISM.
Climate advocates and popular Ilorin broadcaster Dare Akogun, has encouraged media practitioners to embrace innovative storytelling techniques to capture the essence of diverse experiences, enriching the societal tapestry and promoting empathy.
Speaking at the official launch of Confidence News in Ilorin on Sunday in a paper entitled ” Empowering voices: Unveiling a new Era in Media excellence,” highlighted the fundamental shift in media narratives brought about by technological advancements and evolving socio-cultural dynamics.
He underscored the significant impact of smartphones, social media, and digital storytelling tools in democratizing the dissemination of information, enabling previously marginalized voices to be heard.
According to him, “The emergence of new voices in the media is not just a trend; it is a revolution.
“These voices are reshaping our understanding of what media excellence entails, making it more diverse, inclusive, and representative of the world we live in,” he said.
Akogun also pointed out the critical role of diversity in enhancing the richness of content and fostering global tolerance and connectivity.
However, he also cautioned against the challenges facing traditional journalism ethics in the age of inclusivity.
“The balance between amplifying diverse perspectives and upholding journalistic standards of accuracy, fairness, and impartiality is delicate.
“Yet, by empowering local voices, we can bridge cultural gaps and challenge entrenched stereotypes.”
The art of storytelling was championed as a powerful tool that transcends borders and connects individuals on a human level.
