President Donald Trump Administration Offers All 2 Million Federal Workers 8-Month Buyout to Resign, Aiming for $100 Billion in Savings
President Trump’s administration is offering all 2 million federal workers the option to take a “deferred resignation” with a severance package of eight months’ pay and benefits.
The move is expected to encourage 5-10% of the workforce to quit, potentially saving $100 billion.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt emphasized the need for federal employees to return to in-office work or seek other opportunities.
Federal workers will receive the offer via email, with the option to resign by replying “resign” by February 6.
