AN APC GUBERNATORIAL ASPIRANT IN OYO STATE DR AYOBAMI LAM ADESINA LAMENTS DETERIORATING CONDITIONS OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN OYO STATE

An APC aspirant in oyo State, Dr Ayobami Lam Adesina, has lamented deteriorating conditions of education in Oyo State, especially public schools, saying he was sad at this development .

According to him, he is here to serve the people of oyo State, having known the value of education if given the mandate in the 2027 gubernatorial elections .

Dr. Adesina, the oldest son of former late Governor of oyo State ,Alhaji Lam Adesina, was unfolding his mandates towards his gubernatorial ambition elections at the Maiden edition of the Oyo State Council of NUJ “Guest forum” held at the NUJ press Centre.

He noted that schools that are meant to produce quality leaders and good professionals across all sectors had failed to meet standards.

Hear him” we must rebuild public schools to a level where every child regardless of his her background can access quality education ” adding that ” Not everyone can afford private education, but the state must guarantee a standard that creates equal opportunity

Speaking further on the local government autonomy, Dr. Adesina stressed the need for complete local government autonomy as recently spelt out by the federal government, arguing that development at the grassroots level remains vital to overall state progress .

” With most of our local governments being rural, autonomy is key to ensuring development reaches the grassroots, and without it, meaningful progress will be difficult “

He said if given that mandate, his government will improve electricity supply in the state, citing electricity act 2023, advising the state government to take greater opportunity in power generation.

Dr. Adesina emphasized that his government would improve security in the state by providing necessary resources to Amotekun Corps, adding that traditional rulers must cooperate with Amotekun through regular meetings in order to rid the state of criminal elements .

He said if given the mandate, the agriculture sector in the state will be improved by providing modern implements to all our farmers adding that farmers cooperative would be established like his father had done during his regime in the state .

On Youth, Dr Lam Adesina declared that” when our youth graduate today, there are no jobs waiting. We must invest in the industries and also promote technical skills like plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry because not everyone must follow academic routes, ” he lamented

Earlier, while welcoming the guest to the forum, the chairman of NUJ Oyo state Council, Mr Akeem Babatunde Abaas has told his guest that Dr Ayobami Lam Adesina is the first guest in the re- launched NUJ Oyo state “Guest forum” saying we promote accountability, good ideas policies adding that NUJ Oyo state is apolitical .

According to him, the guest forum is opened to all aspirants in Oyo State, and Nuj will be objective in all its dealing.
